Installation guide

From the archive to the first controlled print. Menu names are given as they appear in the French interface.

1. Requirements

2. Installation

  1. Extract the archive to a protected folder with a short path, for example C:\TyposPrint: some files are deeply nested and Windows limits path length.
  2. In PowerShell, from that folder: powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\Initialiser.ps1 -NomServeur print.company.local. The database, the secrets and a self-signed certificate are created.
  3. For a trial, run .\Demarrer.ps1 (in the foreground, Ctrl+C to stop). In production, run .\Installer-Services.ps1 as administrator: the services start with Windows and the firewall is opened.

3. First start

Open the displayed address in a browser. The first-start wizard creates the administrator account: there is no default password. Distribute the certificate config\certificat-a-diffuser.cer to computers, tablets and copiers, or replace it with a certificate from your own authority.

4. Printers and print agent

Declare the printers in the console, then install the print agent on the print server: it watches the controlled queues, sends each document to the Typos Print server and applies the decision (print, secure hold, refusal). The agent is enrolled with a token shown only once in Imprimantes › Agents d’impression.

5. Accounts and directory

Synchronise accounts with Active Directory or LDAP in Serveur › Annuaires, or import them from CSV. Then set quotas, departments and price profiles.

6. Copiers and kiosks

Create one terminal per copier in Imprimantes › Terminaux. The installation sheet prints a QR code for each kiosk, to scan with the tablet or the copier’s browser. Copier terminals require the licence.

7. Licence

Buy the licence on the Pricing page for the company’s Active Directory domain. The licence.json file received by email is loaded in Serveur › Licence. The Mettre à jour la licence button fetches a renewal or an extension, only when you click.

8. Backups and uninstall

9. Updating

In the console, Serveur › Mises à jour › Rechercher une mise à jour reads the latest version published on typos-print.com, only when you click, and shows the download link. The update itself is done by hand:

  1. Download the new archive from the Download page and check its checksum: Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 <archive>.
  2. Run a backup (Serveur › Sauvegardes) and copy it off the server.
  3. Stop Typos Print: services “TyposPrint-Serveur” then “TyposPrint-PostgreSQL” (Services console), or .\Arreter.ps1 without services.
  4. Extract the new archive separately, then replace the installation’s app\ and runtime\ folders with its own. Do not touch config\ or data\.
  5. Restart Typos Print (services, or .\Demarrer.ps1): the database is upgraded automatically at start-up.
  6. Open the console: the Serveur › Mises à jour page must show the new version.

Precautions specific to a version, if any, are shown in the console with the guide.
